THE REVOLUTIONARY I-PLATE

IRONMAN has done it once again. The patented I-PLATE is one of the most versatile and user-friendly plate grounding electrodes available today. Designed with simplicity and flexibility in mind, Ironman’s I-PLATE can be installed flat for a buried connection or the integrated flange can be bent upright by hand to create a vertical connection point above the finished concrete floor for future access.

Measuring 39.75″ × 4.875″ × 1/4″, the plate includes a flange engineered to equal the mass of a 5/8″ grounding rod. Both the flange and plate body include connection holes, allowing plates and other grounding devices to be interconnected when forming a grounding grid in areas with poor soil conditions.

The I-PLATE also revolutionizes shipping and handling. By eliminating the traditional welded 5/8″ vertical rod, hundreds of plates can be stacked flat on each pallet with pallets stacked on top of each other, reducing storage requirements to nearly 10% of conventional encasement models. Each plate weighs only 14 lbs, making transport and installation easier than ever.

This innovative design allows IRONMAN to offer a superior product at a significantly lower cost— often nearly half the price of encasement models—while maintaining full compliance with electrical code requirements.

The I-PLATE is CSA certified to C22.2 No.41-22 Clause 6.10.4.1 and complies with Canadian Electrical Code requirements including Rule 10-700. It has also been approved by EPCOR in the 2025 Connection Guide and does not require
a secondary inspection as other plates often do.

No expensive underground certified connectors are required. Above-ground connectors can be used, typically costing about 20% of underground connector prices. The design also reduces installation time for electrical contractors.

Installation requires only a narrow trench along the footing and burial at the required 600 mm depth. No special tools, additional inspections, or complex procedures are required. Once backfilled, the final electrical connection can be made at any time.

The I-PLATE can be installed anywhere within the walls of the building and can be used for above-ground or below-ground connections. Plates can also be interconnected to create a complete grounding grid when required.

The flat-stack design dramatically reduces shipping costs and storage space while the 14 lb weight makes handling quick and efficient on site.
